NYAC Awards
The New York Archaeological Council (NYAC) offers several awards each year to help encourage scientifc archaeological efforts in New York. One of these awards is for student papers, while the other is open to anyone that has contributed to our knowledge of the past or that have assisted in the preservation of archaeological sites.

STUDENT PAPER/poster COMPETITION
The New York Archaeological Council (NYAC) announces an award in NEW YORK ARCHAEOLOGICAL RESEARCH.
THE AWARD
The membership of the New York Archaeological Council has endorsed a Student Prize Award of $100. The prize is viewed as a way of promoting the utilization of information gathered through Cultural Resource Management (CRM) and other research activities in New York State. The winning author will be encouraged to submit the paper for publication in regional journals, such as Northeastern Anthropology.
Eligibility
Open on a competitive basis to any undergraduate or graduate student performing research on a topic related to New York State Archeology.
Criteria
The award will be restricted to research, historic or prehistoric, conducted within New York State, or otherwise relating to New York State archaeology. Research may include data collected during recent field research or during research on extant collections. Papers/Posters should include, as appropriate, the problem orientation, theoretical perspective, research objectives, analysis of data, conclusions and contributions of the research to Northeastern archaeology. NYAC strongly encourages the use of CRM data. Manuscripts, however, should be submitted in scientific paper format.
Format
PAPERS - Manuscripts are to be no longer than 30 pages, double-spaced, and follow the editorial standards used for American Antiquity.
Submission
PAPERS - Three copies of the complete manuscript should be submitted by March 15 or
POSTERS - 3 copies of the poster on CD (PDF format) AND 3 color copies on 11x17" paper should be submitted by March 15, to:

The New York Archaeological Council (NYAC) announces an award for unique contributions to the field of archaeology and preservation.
THE AWARD
The membership of the New York Archaeological Council has endorsed an award to honor those individuals who have assisted in the preservation of sites, and/or who have contributed substantially to our knowledge of the past. The prize is viewed as a way of recognizing those outstanding individuals who have assisted with preservation and research efforts in the New York State Archaeology.
Format
Individuals nominating someone for the Founder's Award should submit a letter outlining the nominees’ contributions to preservation and archaeology. Letters of support from others familiar with the individual's contributions are encouraged but not required.
Submission
Three copies of the nomination package (letter and other supporting documents) should be submitted by March 30, 2004 to:
